I honestly did not have a good experience with this clay. I used to enjoy it as a child, and while I have fond memories of creating with it, I could never finish a container. Most of my creations from back then are still intact, with only a few cracking due to my own clumsiness on particularly fragile pieces.
I would recommend this clay for younger artists or those who aren’t too concerned about precision or smoothness. It’s very soft and easy to mold, but it becomes extremely sticky if you overuse water or handle it too much. For anyone attempting to create small objects, be warned: if your clay piece is too small, it will start to crumble.
I was eager to use this clay for a project I had been working on all week. As an adult doll collector and customizer, I’ve been sculpting new features for my dolls. Luckily, I didn’t use this clay for them, as it would have been a disaster. Instead, I used it to finish a miniature daybed I was crafting. I was adding an artistic, wobbly edge to a frame made of wood, cardboard, and hot glue, smoothing the clay with a bit of water.
I had read about the cracking issue, so I used water very sparingly. I only dabbed my fingers in a mug of water before smoothing the clay, and I made sure to use minimal water. However, I did use a little extra water on a spot with a crack in the wooden frame, anticipating that it might crack there for structural reasons.
After letting it dry for nearly twenty-four hours, I returned to find that everything had cracked. The edges of the bed were riddled with deep cracks, and some parts had broken off entirely. The area where I had patched the structural crack was completely ruined, with spiderweb-like cracks spreading throughout. Other crucial areas, like the inner corners and base of the wooden posts, also had cracks along the seams.
I wondered if I had used too much water, but I shrugged it off and patched the cracks with more clay. I tried to avoid water, but for the sake of aesthetics and ease of painting, I added a few droplets here and there. A few hours later, I checked back, and more cracks had already appeared.
This clay is very unforgiving. It gets sticky quickly and cracks easily. It doesn’t smooth out well for detailed work and is not compatible with water—something I consider an essential tool for sculpting. While it’s inexpensive and suitable for kids, it simply doesn’t meet my sculpting needs. I will be returning it.
