I expected these sheets to be flimsy, similar to what you’d find at craft stores, but I was pleasantly surprised by their sturdiness. They are strong enough for basket-making yet thin and easy to cut for layered projects or molds. They absorbed stain well and sanded smoothly without any issues. The pre-smooth finish was a nice touch. I used them to create an owl house, cutting the wood by hand, which required some care to avoid chipping, but it turned out great. They are ideal for laser cutting as well.

You might be curious about its true nature—whether it’s solid basswood, solid balsa wood, or plywood made from either of those or some other type of wood.
After examining it, I believe it’s basswood plywood. It’s definitely plywood and too dense to be balsa wood. If it were birch plywood, the seller would likely highlight that in the description.
Overall, the quality is impressive. I purchased a 36-sheet pack, and only one side of one sheet had a noticeable defect. While none of the sheets were perfectly flat—an expectation with such thin wood—this material will work wonderfully for laser cutting and various crafting projects.

The plywood is decent, though it’s not entirely flat. However, it’s important to note that it is much thinner than advertised! It’s supposed to be 1/8 inch (3.1mm), but in reality, it’s around 2.70-2.75mm. If you’re planning to use it alongside another 3mm plywood or for a project that requires multiple pieces, be prepared to adjust your measurements to accommodate the actual thickness of these sheets.

I purchased this as a refill since I often use 12×12 sheets, and I was very happy with the bulk pack. The sheets were neatly cut and sized, and the surfaces were mostly clear, though there were some visible seams from where veneer sheets were joined. The inner layer had a few minor inconsistencies, like small voids, but they didn’t pose any problems with the initial cuts I’ve made. All the sheets were flat, had a uniform thickness of +/- 0.1mm, and the edges were undamaged. For hobby projects, this pack is an excellent choice. However, if you’re working on high-end products, you might want to explore other options.

I purchased these for my X tool P2, and they performed excellently. There was no warping or bending when I unpacked them; they were perfectly flat. I didn’t need clamps to keep them in place during the laser process, as they stayed flat throughout. Cutting them was a breeze.

I used this material with an Ortur laser equipped with air assist, and it performed well. The laser cut through the sheets easily, producing minimal smoke and limited char marks. If you don’t have air assist, using tape could improve your results with this wood. The engraving came out with good detail, and it cut cleanly when I created shapes and plates for other projects. The finish was smooth and absorbed stain nicely, although I didn’t test it with paint. The sheets are relatively thin and not very durable, so be cautious about getting them too wet with paint, stain, or other finishes. There were no knots or noticeable grain, which could be advantageous or disadvantageous depending on your project. Each sheet maintained consistent quality, making it a reliable choice. While it’s not the best material I’ve worked with, it’s certainly not the worst either. I would definitely use these for selling at craft fairs or making gifts for friends and family. For very fine, high-end projects, consider investing in a more premium material. As with any raw materials, it’s wise to shop around for the best prices and specifications.
