Having completed several diamond art paintings, I’m quite familiar with the products and techniques. These coasters have some notable differences from traditional diamond art that are worth mentioning.
Firstly, the diamonds are clear with a painted base that adds color, making them very sparkly. However, the downside is that the backing tends to scratch off easily, resulting in many diamonds lacking full color. Unlike most diamond art kits, this set doesn’t provide many extra diamonds for touch-ups (see the attached picture of the remaining diamonds post-completion—some colors have fewer than 10 left!).
Regarding the canvas, the coasters are made of a sturdy, translucent plastic, and the printing is quite clear, making it easy to distinguish where each color goes. However, the colors are not positioned directly adjacent to one another, which creates noticeable gaps between the diamonds—sometimes quite large. This results in some sticky areas on the finished coasters that will likely attract dirt and dust over time. They’ll need to be sealed to prevent this, but I’m uncertain about the best method (Mod Podge may not be durable enough for coasters).
Additionally, because the coasters are small, the images lack detail and clarity, though they are indeed sparkly. Each coaster takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete, making it a manageable project that you can pause and resume easily.
Overall, this is a fun project with a few drawbacks as mentioned.

The color scheme matched their placemats perfectly. Each coaster took about an hour to finish, which was ideal for a six-year-old’s attention span. These are a blast to work on, and their smaller size means they don’t require as much time as a full portrait. The cluster is a nice size, and my hot tea hasn’t melted the diamonds at all! One tip I’d recommend is to give the finished piece a good spray with water or something similar to reduce stickiness, as there are gaps between the rhinestones where debris can get stuck to the adhesive, making it harder to clean later.
